FIELD: organic chemistry, polymers, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of highly branched polyisoolefins that involves the polymerization reaction in solution, suspension or gaseous phase in the presence of bifunctional monomers comprising at least one group showing ability to the cationic polymerization that serves as an initiating agent for cationic polymerization of isoolefins (inimers). The reaction is carried out at temperature from +20 to -100oC and if necessary in the presence of inert organic solvents and in the presence of alkylalumoxanes (co-initiating agent).
