ADAPTER FOR PLACEMENT OF DISC Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to adapter designed to carry 8 cm disc in drive intended for 12 cm disc. Adapter has case , disc holder, springy pressing aid supporting disc and aid to release springy pressing unit at moment when disc holder enters case of adapter. Springy pressing unit is formed on opposite ribs of disc holder and is meant to press on outer edge of disc in direction towards center. Aid to release springy pressing unit has protrusion made as component part of front edge of springy pressing unit and intermediate member located in case of adapter which interacts with mentioned protrusion thanks to sliding contact with protrusion. Adapter has sensor hole to determine size of disc. Owing to it fall of disc when holder with disc is inserted into or removed from case of adapter is prevented and wrong position of disc relative to bearing member of drive is avoided. It also results in reduced time of preparation of drive for information exchange with disc. EFFECT: improved reliability of adapter. 53 cl, 10 dwg
