FIELD: cartridges for disposing and protecting data residing on optical disks. SUBSTANCE: cartridge has case with opening to receive data medium; detachable cover mounted for removing it on cartridge case at mentioned opening to provide for entrance or exit of data medium that may be inserted in cartridge case or extracted therefrom ; means for locking data medium on detachable cover by holding mentioned data medium on its outer edge and supporting it so that surface of this data medium resides in plane formed by locking members when data medium is inserted in cartridge case and/or extracted therefrom for rotating the medium within cartridge case. In this way data medium is replaced without touching it with hands thereby preventing its damage by fingerprints, scores, and the like. EFFECT: enhanced safety in handling data medium. 37 cl, 5 dwg
