FIELD: nuclear power engineering; reactor power control at nuclear power stations. SUBSTANCE: reactor power is controlled by responding to signals coming from power sensors using for the purpose positive and negative reactivity introduction channels whose reactivity is varied by means of special reactivity-control elements and also by detecting core areas of highest and lowest energy release or fuel rating margin by means of signals coming from reactor sensors. Regulator control channel is connected to actuator of reactivity-control element most intensively influencing variation of neutron flux density in lowest energy release area or in highest fuel rating margin area by introducing positive reactivity; negative reactivity is introduced for connecting regulator control channel to actuator of reactivity-control element most intensively varying neutron flux density in highest energy release area or in lowest fuel rating margin. Regulators are controlled by responding to power sensor signals such as beyond reactor mounted neutron detectors. EFFECT: enhanced precision of energy release or fuel rating margin distribution and reactor power control, improved uniformity of fuel burn-up, enlarged service life of core, enhanced reactor safety. 3 cl, 1 dwg
