FIELD: metallurgy; thermochemical treatment of metals and alloys; aviation; chemical industry; shipbuilding, mechanical engineering and other industries. SUBSTANCE: method includes heating and saturation in powder-like mixture containing silicon, activator and corundum followed by cooling; siliconizing is carried out in powder-like mixture containing additionally cuprous oxide and aluminum fluoride as activator at the following relationship of components, mass-%: silicon, 0.5 to 30; cuprous oxide, 0.01 to 5; aluminum fluoride, 0.01 to 3; corundum, 62 to 99.48; heating is effected in ammonia atmosphere; in the course of heating at temperature of powder mixture of 300 to 650 C articles are kept for 3 to 30 min, after which gaseous products are discharged. EFFECT: improved quality of surfaces are compared with prototype; increase of thickness of coat by 1.2 to 1.5 times at simultaneous intensification of process due to reduction of time of treatment by 2 to 4 times. 1 tbl
