Ultrasonic wave reflected from piston-reflector nonuniformly moving in liquid over fixed distance is received. Envelope of electric beats corresponding to reflected ultrasonic wave is distinguished in the course of entire time of piston travel. Value of frequency of envelope of beats corresponding to Doppler shift of frequency of reflected ultrasonic wave is found uninterruptedly and ultrasound velocity is established by formula given in description of invention. EFFECT: raised accuracy of determination of ultrasound velocity in liquid media in interferometers of variable base with uninterruptedly traveling reflector. 1 dwg
