FIELD: study of physical and physico-chemical properties of liquid media; oil, chemical, automotive-tractor, microbiological, food-processing and other industries. SUBSTANCE: body having mass "m" and volume "V" is set in up and down motion at different velocities by external force "F" on side of thread wound on pulley which is rotated by motor provided with built-in tachometer. Force "F" is related linearly with velocity of motion of body. Then, dependence of velocity vup of up motion of body versus force vup = kupF+bup and velocity vdown of down motion of body versus force vdown = kdownF+bdown obtained from readings of piston velocity indicator is found, where kdown and kup are proportionality factors between up and down motion of body external force "F" linearly related with velocity of body motion; bdown and bup are magnitudes of velocities of up and down motion of body at zero magnitude of external force linearly related with velocity of body motion. Density, viscosity and lubricating capacity are determined from magnitudes thus obtained. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy; extended functional capabilities. 4 dwg
