FIELD: navigation under ice conditions. SUBSTANCE: submarine ship runs under ice at resonance speed exciting flexural gravitational waves; negative buoyancy is imparted to ship running at this speed and fairwater diving planes and aft planes are put to positive angles of attack for holding ship at preset depth. Negative buoyancy is imparted through reception of excessive ballast in main ballast tanks, regulating tanks, emergency tanks and compensating tanks. Buoyancy force is brought to zero by turning the planes and by ballast; as a result, resistance of water to ship's motion increases, thus increasing height of waves and enhancing efficiency of ice breaking. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency.
