FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has two rigidly connected spring-loaded branches with working jaws on the ends. The haws are oriented at an obtuse angle to the branches. One of jaws has a tooth on the end and the other one has two teeth for receiving the opposite branch tooth in the branch separation plane. The jaws have variable cross-section narrowing in length when moving towards the teeth. Internal surface of the working jaws is wedge-like and the sharp wedge ends are engageable with each other in the branch separation plane. Branch engagement angle is equal to 3-5 deg. Wedge cross- section angle is equal to 60 deg. Working jaws are at least 10.5 mm long. EFFECT: excluded postoperative complications like astigmatism; high reliability of nucleus fragmentation operation. 2 cl, 4 dwg
