SUBSTANCE: method involves separating irregularly shaped sample from woody plant and placing it into transparent measuring vessel; spilling waterproof bulk load on sample to level marked on indicator; stirring vessel with short distance frequent motions; measuring total level; withdrawing sample and repeatedly stirring vessel; measuring lowered level of bulk load; determining volume of irregularly shaped sample by difference between first and second level. Method may be employed in any enterprise for determining volume of samples of different parts (main and branch stems, roots, needles, leaves, bark) of woody plants such as sprouts, bushes, seedlings, underbrush, undergrowth and trees.
