FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: the method deals with decreasing the frequency of secondary cataract development in postoperational period after implantation of a posterior-chamber intraocular lens into a capsular sac. An edge surface of a posterior-chamber lens containing both an optic part and a haptic one has got a border designed along lens's edge along its total perimeter. The mentioned border is of trapezoidal shape that provides a prolonged contact of lens's posterior surface with a capsular sac. Moreover, experimentally chosen length of haptic elements provides complete spreading of a capsular sac and the absence of folds. The method decreases the risk for secondary cataract development due to creating a barrier for migration of lenticular epithelial cells left after cataract extraction.
