FIELD: medicine; medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing medical products on carrier in gas-proof chamber at gas pressure equal to 1•10-6-5•10-5 mm of mercury column adding working gas to reach pressure of 1•10-4-6•10-5 mm of mercury column. Igniting glow discharge of high voltage and ion bombardment of medical products are carried out to surface clarification at 1-3 KeV and increase in product temperature to 80-200 C. The device has gas-proof chamber having pumping discharge means, hollow cathode with carrier for product to be sterilized placed inside, anode and ignition unit. The anode and ignition unit are isolated from chamber casing. The carrier is electrically connected to the chamber and electrically insulated from cathode and movable through the cathode. DC power supply source has glow discharge source, accelerating voltage discharge source, ballast resistors and milliammeter. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of sterilization. 2 cl, 3 dwg
