FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in placement item inside working chamber, in chamber vacuumising, in filling chamber with working gas, in igniting glow discharge, in generating gas plasma, in filling working chamber with plasma and in item heating. Also the item is placed in the central zone of the chamber and is insulated from it. Working gas is supplied to pressure of 1-10 Pa in the chamber, while glow discharge is ignited between the working chamber and anode at voltage of 300-600 V. Upon filling working chamber with plasma pressure is lowered to 0.01-0.1 Pa and voltage is raised to 1500-3000 V to maintain constant value of discharge current.
EFFECT: maintaining primary class of item surface finish at heating, increased uniformity of heating.
