FIELD: mechanical engineering; methods of production of abradable seals for flow section of turbines and compressors of gas-turbine engines; other industries. SUBSTANCE: method of production of porous abradable material from discrete metallic fibers including includes laying fibers in mold followed molding and sintering. Molding is effected at simultaneous application of vibration followed by sintering; after sintering, material is additionally molded for obtaining porosity of up to 90%. Molding is performed at pressure of from 5 to 50 MPa at simultaneous application of vibration at frequency of 1-10 Hz and amplitude of from 0.2 to 0.8 mm. Sintering is performed in vacuum or in protective atmosphere at temperature of 0.75- 0.85 of melting point of material. Used as metallic fibers are discrete fibers made from high-resistant alloys at diameter-to-length ratio of 1: 30- 500. Additional molding is performed in mold or by passing through rollers. Proposed method ensures high porosity, up to 90% . EFFECT: high attrition wear resistance. 7 cl, 1 tbl
