FIELD: production of composite materials used in aeronautical engineering; manufacture of blades of compressors of gas-turbine engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed method is used for production of composite material on base of intermetallic titanium compound reinforced by silicon carbide fibers; proposed method includes manufacture of porous blank containing reinforcing fibers and titanium powder and impregnation of porous blank with aluminum melt under pressure. Porous blank is produced by winding fibers at preset pitch; reinforcing fibers are fixed before impregnation by application of layer of aluminum or its alloy by plasma spraying. After impregnation, heat treatment is performed at temperature of 660-1150 C till titanium is completely dissolved forming inter-metallic compound matrix. Particles of titanium powder have size no more than 100 mcm. Porous blank may consist of two or more layers. Layers of titanium foil no more than 100 mcm in thickness may be placed between layers of reinforcing fibers in porous blank.
