FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: the given invention presents the new and improved catalysts for production of vinyl acetate by reaction of ethylene, oxygen and acetic acid. The catalyst including the porous carrying agent, on the porous surfaces of which efficient quantity of metal palladium and gold is catalytically deposited, as well as the third metal picked from the group, consisting of a magnesium, calcium, a barium, zirconium and cerium, in the form of oxides or a blend of an oxide and a metal, is produced either by the method including impregnation of the porous carrying agent with an aqueous solution of the water-soluble salts of palladium and indicated third metal, binding the indicated palladium and the third metal by the water-insoluble compounds reaction with the corresponding alkaline compound, consequent impregnation of the catalyst with a solution of the water-soluble salt of gold, binding the gold in the solution used for last impregnation in the form of water-insoluble compound reaction with a corresponding alkaline compound, and recovery of the bound palladium and gold up to their metal state, and the bound third metal - up to its oxide or a blend of an oxide and its metal; or using a method including the stages of impregnation of the carrying agent with a solution of the water-soluble salts of palladium, gold and the indicated third metal, binding palladium, gold and the third metal in the last solution with the water-insoluble compounds by a method including a stage of rotation and \ or rotation in a drum of the impregnated carrying agent during its dipping in solution of the corresponding alkaline compound, and recovery of the bound palladium and gold up to their metal state, and the third metal - up to its oxide or a blend of its oxide and its metal. EFFECT: application of the catalyst leads to the reaction having rather high activity and-or low selectivity in respect to the heavy fractions. 10 cl, 2 tbl, 9 ex
