FIELD: industrial organic synthesis and catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst for synthesis of vinyl acetate from ethylene, oxygen, and acetic acid contains porous support, on the porous surfaces of which catalytically effective quantity of palladium and gold metals as well as copper acetate are deposited. Support is first impregnated with aqueous solution of palladium salt, which is then transformed into water-insoluble state by treatment with an alkali compound. Thereafter, impregnation and precipitation of insoluble gold salt is performed followed by reduction of palladium and gold salts into metal state so that the quantities of palladium and gold metals are 1-10 and 0.5-10 g per 1 l catalyst, respectively. Elemental copper in quantity 0.3-0.5 g per 1 l catalyst is finely deposited on impregnated catalyst in the form of copper acetate. EFFECT: increased vinyl acetate formation selectivity and decreased amount of released carbon dioxide. 14 cl
