FIELD: manufacture of building materials; production of continuous fibers from rock, such as basalt; baths or straight-line furnaces. SUBSTANCE: method includes melting solid phase of rock in molten weld pool and delivery of melt to production zone at intermediate preheating through surface under roof of production zone, as well as delivery of melt to dies through feeder; intermediate preheating of melt in production zone is performed through thin layer of melt flowing from weld pool to production zone. Heat shield of furnace used for realization of the proposed method separating surface of melt of production zone from heating burners located near furnace roof is mounted at overflow sill mark not exceeding height of overflow sill; it is hermetically connected with sill and is provided with overflow hole in opposite wall.
