FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves using carbon steel of the following composition, %: carbon 0.30-0.45; silicon 0.01-0.05; manganese 0.85-1.35; aluminum 0.01-0.04; chromium not in the excess of 0.10; nickel not in the excess of 0.05; copper not in the excess of 0.10; molybdenum not in the excess of 0.05; sulfur no in the excess of 0.02; phosphor not in the excess of 0.02; iron the balance; heating slab to temperature of 1,260-1,320 C; rolling strip with temperature at rolling final stage being in the range of 820-880 C; cooling to temperature of 550-590 C and winding into roll; upon etching, subjecting strip to cold rolling at total reduction extent of 60-73%. EFFECT: increased efficiency in producing high-strength cold-rolled strip from carbon steel in cold-hardened state, increased stability of mechanical properties and improved yield of high-quality strips. 2 cl, 4 tbl
