FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, combustion products of exhaust gases are directed into exhaust duct in which water is atomized by means of nozzles. Water delivered by pump from tank interacts with high temperature exhaust gases turning into water vapors which bind products of incomplete combustion of fuel into complex compounds. Then exhaust gases get into coolercondenser where vapors are condensed and condensate, thus formed, gets into reservoir, and cleaned exhaust gases are discharged into atmosphere. Amount of water atomized in exhaust gas flow by means of nozzles is regulated depending on change of relative load of internal combustion engine by means of control device which changes water flow by signal from automatic control unit. Said signal is formed depending on signal from engine load pickup within range of change of relative load from 0 (idling) to I (rated load) according to equations for two stroke engines (I) and for four-stroke engines (2). Proposed method of neutralization of exhaust gases of internal combustion engine makes it possible to increase efficiency of neutralization owing to control of water flow rate as for each load of internal combustion engine optimum value of flow rate exists at which minimum toxicity of exhaust gases discharged into atmosphere is provided. EFFECT: reduced consumption of water, overall dimensions and mass of devices, enlarged sphere of application. 1 dwg
