FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: procedure is intended for location of point of connection of distortion load to common supply network and for evaluation of its share in distortion of network voltage. Technical result of invention consists in exposure and evaluation of distortion load without analysis of higher harmonics in composition of active power. Proposed procedure is based on physical presentation of processes of frequency conversion of power taking place in network with distortion load according to which load which operation is accompanied by consumption of nonsinusoidal intermittent current and corresponding distortion of form of network voltage can be shown by secondary source of power of higher harmonics. Procedure consists in location of point of connection of distortion load to feeder line by way of determination of sign and value of active power of higher harmonics across this or that section of network. To simplify this analysis it is proposed that finding of power of higher harmonics should be substituted by measurement of component of active power of fundamental harmonic of ideal symmetric valve which anticipated insertion could lead to substantial value and form of voltage and current in test point of network. Specified power of first harmonic of valve is multiplied by proportionality factor depending on value of active resistance of sections of network to the right and left of point of connection of mentioned load to evaluate full power of higher harmonics of distortion load.
