SUBSTANCE: control method includes processing, addressing, and display modes; in addressing mode pulses are scanned and shaped across one of display electrodes used in processing mode; after addressing mode, display mode processing pulses are shaped across display electrodes used in processing mode and discharge maintenance pulses are shaped in display mode across display electrode not used in addressing mode and across display electrodes not used in processing mode.
