METHOD OF GRANULATION OF MELT AND DEVICE FOR REALIZATION OF THIS METHOD Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: granulation of materials; granulation of liquid melts by conversion of melt into tear-shaped form and hardening of drops; chemical, petrochemical and food-processing industries. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes drawing dose of melt from heated storage reservoir. Then dose thus drawn if forced out of chamber by plunger through outlet nozzle. After forcing-out the dose of melt chamber is disconnected from outlet nozzle before return motion of plunger. Then, chamber is again brought into communication with outlet nozzle during reciprocating motion of plunger before forcing-out the dose to position of shutting-off of passage from storage reservoir. Device proposed for realization of this method has heated storage reservoir with metering chambers mounted in its bottom and communicated with outlet nozzles. Movable plungers mounted in said chambers are connected with slide of reciprocating drive. Walls of chambers are provided with side passages running to reservoir; they are shut-off by plungers during their motion. Cooled surface for forming granules is located on the outside under outlet nozzles. Fitted between each metering chamber and outlet nozzle is spring-loaded valve.
