FIELD: metallurgy, electrolytic generation of magnesium and chlorine, design of electrolyzer with bipolar electrodes for winning of magnesium and chlorine. SUBSTANCE: bipolar electrolyzer includes working cells housing cathodes, anodes, bipolar electrodes and collection cell separated from working cells by partitions with windows. Bipolar electrodes are fixed in ceiling of electrolyzer at distance from bottom relating to height of working part of bipolar electrode equal to 1:3-7 for mechanical removal of slime. EFFECT: increased current efficiency, diminished consumption of electric energy, creation of conditions for mechanical removal of slime from electrolytic cells. 2 dwg
