FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to field of production of functional coats resistant to wear and to methods of their deposition on surfaces of articles, it can be employed to strengthen parts of machines and mechanisms manufacturing present-day high-boosting engines, to deposit wear- resistant coats on valve spindles and piston rings. Wear-resistant coat deposited on surfaces of friction pairs consists of nitrified sublayer of basic material more than 50 mcm thick and next wear-resistant layer of zirconium nitride ZrN 5 to 10 mcm thick. While depositing wear-resistant ion-plasma coat on surfaces of friction pairs nitriding is conducted to depth equal to more than 50 mcm and layer of zirconium nitride 5-10 mcm thick is deposited as upper layer. Cleaning, heating of surface, nitriding, activation of nitrified sublayer are realized by method of ion bombardment from plasma current which is formed by source of gas plasma and is directed onto surface. Nitriding of surface and deposition of layer of zirconium nitride are carried out during single cycle of vacuum treatment.
