FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cleaning oil-containing waste waters under conditions of booster pump units, group units, separation blocks, and gathering stations. Method comprises feeding water into settler by ascending flow through destabilizer and withdrawing oil, gas, and cleaned water. Part of initial water is taken off before water uptake regulator and introduced into destabilizer in the form of one or a series of throttles. Settler is provided with transverse barrier mounted for enabling flow to pass above or below and separating inlet chamber of settler from its main chamber. The rest of initial water is passed directly into settler. EFFECT: stabilized pressure gradient between destabilizer inlet and outlet thereby stabilizing water uptake and favoring release of dissolved air and more efficient cleaning of oil-containing water.
