FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device for adsorption of at least one of components of exhaust gases is designed for use in exhaust system of vehicle of vehicle internal combustion engine. Device contains adsorber, volume V, to pass flow of exhaust gases characterized by temperature and mass flow rate. Volume V of adsorber corresponds to following equation
where V is volume of adsorber in liters, t is average temperature of exhaust gases in oC, and m is average mass flow rate of exhaust gases in kg/h, a-k are coefficients having definite values. Proposed adsorber of volume V, with due account of properties of exhaust gas flow passing through adsorber is notable for compact design.
EFFECT: improved working characteristics of catalyst converter placed in direction of gas flow after converter at starting of engine from cold.
