FIELD: contactless measurement of parameters of translucent containers, such as bottles by optical means. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes direction of light energy to first part of container for check of container by inspection with the aid of unit sensitive to light; this unit generates output signal as function of optical characteristics of inspected part of container and performs identification of variants in first part of container as function of output signal. Direction of light energy is performed by second part of container at elevated temperature which directs infra-red light energy to first part of container. Device for check of container having open neck includes source of light for direction of light energy to container and unit sensitive to light; light sensitive unit is so located relative to this container and to light source that is receives light energy transmitted through container neck. Light source has part of container wall at temperature at which infra-red light energy is transmitted to container to which light sensitive unit is sensitive. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 12 cl, 3 dwg
