FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for preparing 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-quinoline-3-carbaldehyde of the formula (I)
that involves oxidation of 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-hydroxymethylquinoline with hypohalogenic acid salt in the presence of quaternary ammonium salt. 2-Cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)- quinoline-3-carbaldehyde can be used as an intermediate compound in synthesis of inhibitor of HNG-CoA- reductase using as medicinal agent for reduction of cholesterol level. Invention provides the development of simple and industrially favorable method for preparing 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-quinoline-3- carbaldehyde with high yield.
