FIELD: cleansing agents. SUBSTANCE: cleansing composition designed for removing tarry, coke, and other deposits from metallic and polymeric surfaces of part and which can also be used in propulsion engineering, oil-and-gas-production fields, as well as during maintaining and repair operations with internal combustion engines contains, wt %: compound of general formula R1-O-R2, in which R1 represents CnH2n+1 or -C(O)CnH2n+1 with n=1-14 and R2 represents H, CH2-CH2-OH, or CnH2n+1 with n=1-10 or their mixtures, 5-70; solvents containing in their molecules one or several tertiary nitrogen atoms, sulfur, chlorine and/or fluorine atoms or their mixtures, 1- 50; paraffin and/or naphthene hydrocarbons with dry point from 35 to 400 C, 5-85; nonionic surfactant containing ethoxy groups, 0.01-20; and water, 0.01-15. EFFECT: enhanced cleansing efficiency and improved environmental condition thanks to reduced amounts of waste. 1 tbl, 2 dwg, 12 ex
