FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method cleansing liquid is delivered into shutdown engine, is held in engines during preset period and engine is cranked. Prior to delivering cleansing liquid into engine, the latter is warmed up some parts are removed to provided access into intracylinder space. Amount of cleansing liquid is from 5 to 25 ml per 100 cm3 of cylinder volume. After keeping the cleansing liquid in engine for a recommended period of time, cranking of engine and mounting of removed parts to their places, engine is started. Cleansing liquid recommended for use has the following composition, mas. %: carboxylic acids, formula R1-COOH where R1 contains from 12 to 18 atoms of carbon, 8-15; low-molecular amines, formula R2-N-(P3)2 where R2= H-CH3; and R2= H-CH3-;C2H5-;C3H7;C4H9-, 3-7; aromatic hydrocarbons with boiling temperature from 60 to 250 C, 20-45; water-soluble liquid organic solvents, molecular mass from 46 to 400, 15-25; and dimethylformamide, 15-40. EFFECT: reduced labour input and time taken for cleaning of parts, effective action on gum and coke deposits containing wide spectrum of substances differing in degree of oxidation and carbonization.
