FIELD: metallurgy; methods and devices for production of iron and/or ferroalloys from iron-containing materials, utilizable steel waste inclusive.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method is performed in metallurgical furnace provided with hearth, side walls and roof; minimum size of inner part of hearth in width is at least 4 m. Proposed method includes forming molten bath, delivery of iron-containing material, carbon-containing material and fluxes to reservoir, melting of iron-containing initial material to molten state in molten bath and generation of gases in bath. Injection of jets of oxygen-containing gas consisting of air or at content of oxygen up to 50% is performed through three or more lances into space above killed surface, burning of gases obtained in the course of process and forming upward motion of molten material from molten bath to upper space to facilitate transfer of heat to bath and minimize losses of heat from reservoir. Gas jets entrap such volume of gas formed in upper space above killed surface which exceeds volume of injected gas.
EFFECT: enhanced afterburning of gas in upper space and transfer of heat to molten bath; avoidance of inadmissible oxidation of molten materials in bath.
