FIELD: food-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has frame, bin, and drive drum with brushes on its inner surface. Additional brush is mounted in drum cavity in parallel with is axis of rotation. Each brush is composed of packet of flexible members made in the form of cuts of metal multiple-strand cable. Cable cuts are arranged in packet for varying length of working portions. Cable cuts are inserted in tube provided with longitudinal slot, which is extending in parallel with axis of rotation of drum to form cylindrical opening for limiting working length of blade by means of flexible member retainer. Flexible members are formed from set of alternating rigid pressure washers and cylindrical bushings of flexible material. Flexible members, pressure washers and cylindrical bushings are connected with one another by means of pin with nuts at its threaded ends. Diameter of pressure washers is smaller than inner diameter of cylindrical slot. Each main brush is positioned for varying its angle of inclination with respect to radial plane of drum and equipped with mechanism for varying its size. Said mechanism is made in the form of disks arranged at ends of tube with longitudinal slot and provided with arced recesses allowing brush to be fixed on drum. EFFECT: improved quality of cleaning surfaces of cucurbits and root crop fruit and enhanced reliability in operation. 3 cl, 7 dwg
