FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in designing antilock brake systems excluding impulse braking. Such systems employ for operation the method based on provision of constant difference, other than zero, between coefficients in horizontal and side directions, thus improved reliability of braking, even if some wheels are locked in process of braking as provision of additional wheels on guide wheels, method of incomplete braking of separate wheels on axles at multiple-axle running gears of prime movers and use of double braking mechanisms ensure ϕy ≠ 0, where ϕy is side adhesion coefficient.
