FIELD: gear working, namely large scale and mass production of gear wheels. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of freely rolling around shaver having cutting edges shifted along helical surface, and worked gear wheel, both are mounted in mutually parallel axes. In order to enhance efficiency and accuracy of working of non-chilled gear wheel, providing out-of-pole engagement of shaver with worked gear wheel and performing working with periodical radial feed after each of two-four working cycles at rotation of shaver in forward and reverse directions by revolution number equal to number of teeth of worked gear wheel and without radial feed during one-two dwelling cycles at rotation of shaver in forward and reverse directions by revolution number equal to number of teeth of worked gear wheel; using shaver whose teeth number has no common multiples with teeth number of worked gear wheel except 1.
