FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building. Free rolling of shaver roller and machined gear is performed. Tool engages with gear out of pole. Proposed method comprises machining at intermittent radial feed after every cycle of 2 to 4 series and without radial feed in 1 to 2 sparking-out cycles. Working cycles comprise turning the tool back and forth through number of turns equal to that gear teeth. Sparking-out cycles comprise turning the tool back and forth through number of turns equal to that gear teeth. Used tool has the teeth in number that has no common factors with the number of gear teeth except for unity. Sparking-out cycles are carried out at stable force of tool pressure to billet or billet to tool applied by elastic elements that allow oscillations in spacing between tool and machined gear.
EFFECT: decreased roughness and residual strain in surface layer.
