FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of alkali metal titanates, which can be used for fabrication of high-frequency ceramic condensers and other radio-electronic facilities with high electrophysical parameters. Preliminarily prepared titanium tetrachloride, barium chloride, and oxalic acid solutions are mixed together in following order: oxalic acid solution is first added to titanium tetrachloride solution and resulting mixture is added to barium chloride solution. Resultant barium titanyl oxalate is separated from filtrate, treated with 8-10% oxalic acid solution within temperature range 20 to 75 C at ratio of solids to liquids equal to 1:(2-3), filtered, washed with distilled water, and calcined. The following products are thus obtained: non-thixotropic loose barium titanyl oxalate paste with high filtration factor and fine-grained barium titanate powder with improved characteristics as starting material for manufacturing ferroelectric materials.
