FIELD: technology of production of inorganic substances.
SUBSTANCE: synthesis of barium titanyl oxalate includes preparation of starting solutions of titanium tetrachloride, barium chloride and oxalic acid followed by mixing these solutions, separating barium titanyl oxalate sediment from solution, filtering the suspension thus formed, separating the sediment from mother liquor, washing-off the sediment, reworking, utilization and decontamination of mother liquors and technological water. Starting solution of titanium tetrachloride is prepared by pouring cleaned titanium tetrachloride into hydrochloric acid solution at concentration of 0.5-2.0 mole/cu dm at continuous mixing and temperature of solutions of 205 C till concentration of titanium ions in solution has reached 0.5-1.5 mole/dm3 and mole ratio of TiCl4:HCl=1 : (0.5-2.0). Barium chloride solution at concentration of 0.4-0.8 mole/cu dm is introduced into hydrochloric acid solution at mixing barium chloride solution till mole ratio of BaCl2:HCl=(1.02-1.08). Composite solution is subjected for mixing continued for 0.5-1 h after which it is mixed with oxalic acid solution at concentration of 0.5-25 mole/dm3 and temperature of 15-25 C; oxalic acid is taken in the amount sufficient for obtaining mole ratio of TiCl4:H2C2O4=1 : (2.05-2.08). Suspension thus formed is kept at mixing for 2-4 h, after which it is settled and barium titanyl oxalate is separated from mother liquor first by decantation of clarified solution and then by filtering the thickened part of suspension.
EFFECT: enhanced stability and improved quality of product.
