METHOD FOR OBTAINING PROTEIN PRODUCT OUT OF COLLAGEN-CONTAINING RAW MATERIAL Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: raw hide processing. SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with processing collagen-containing raw material of animal origin, swine hides, in particular, substandard ones among them, obtained at swine' slaughtering, after contouring, hide backing of swine raw material at hide-preparing stations, in hide-salting departments at meat-packing plants, at raw hide plants, also, it deals with obtaining protein product to be applied in technology of meat products. The method deals with reducing, dehairing, modification of swine hides with inorganic compounds, and saline washings. Raw material should be prefrozen, reduced up to portions of 25 x 25 or 50 x 50 sq. mm. Defrosting, modification of raw material and its dehairing should be performed simultaneously. Hides are treated with alkaline- saline solution containing sodium hydroxide at 5-15% concentration and sodium chloride of 6% concentration, as well. Treatment should last for 13-25 h.
