FIELD: sugar industry. SUBSTANCE: first-crystallization strike is kept in crystallizer to temperature 68-72 C, passed into periodical rotor provided with (i) syrup classifier in lower section of its casing to separate first and second runoffs and (ii) device controlling the first runoff separation moment. The latter contains sensitive element connected to pneumatically actuated transformer. In strike separation operation, one measures pressure of the first runoff transmitted to sensitive element and, when pressure 0.09-0.10 MPa is attained, washing is started and continued during a period of time equal to the first runoff separation time, consumption of water constituting 0.15-0.22% of the weight of strike per 1 sec. EFFECT: increased productivity of centrifuge and decreased water uptake for washing crystals, and increased quality characteristics of crystals. 1 dwg _
