FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; magnesium scrap processing. SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method of processing of magnesium scrap and is dealt with a nonferrous metallurgy and may be used at processing magnesium scrap, wastes and liquid metallurgical waste products. The method of processing of magnesium scrap includes a scrap heat in medium of the melted flux with production of the melt, treatment of the melt by air under excessive pressure and settling of the produced metal. After treatment by air melt is additionally treated with a noble gas. The noble gas is fed under the layer of the melt. Noble gas fed under the layer of the melt in a dispersed form. The speed of the noble gas bubbles emersion in the melt layer is kept according to the ratio: V<9,5(gν)1/3, where V is a speed of emersion of the noble gas in the melt, m\s; g - acceleration of gravity, m/s2 (g = 9.81 m\ s2); ν - kinematic viscosity of the melt, m2/s. Specific consumption of the noble gas is kept within the limits of 0.1-0.4 cm3 / (kgf), and the treatment by the noble gas is conducted within 0.2-0.5 hour. The method insures a decrease of content of non-metal impurities in the secondary metal and due to that - improvement of quality of the metal up to the acceptable values of impurities: by oxygen - up to 0.01 mas %, by hydrogen - up to 14 cm3 / 100 g of the alloy.
