FIELD: evaluation of radiation-ecological condition of water objects, radiation monitoring of sources of drinkable water supply of populated areas. SUBSTANCE: technique establishing specific activity of radium-226 in water is carried out by registration of alpha radiation of radon-222 and daughter product of its decay by tracking method in air of measurement vessel with precipitation of evaporated sample of water and subsequent computation of specific activity of radium-226 by measured value of integral volumetric activity of radon in air of measurement vessel. Technical result of invention lies in simplified process of sample preparation, in enhanced timeliness of establishment of specific activity of radium-226 in sources of drinkable water supply with simultaneous reduction of expenses for analysis. EFFECT: enhanced timeliness of establishment of specific activity of radium-226.
