FIELD: sampling technology. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to taking liquid samples from pipelines and can find application in oil and other industries where high accuracy of determination of parameters of transferred liquid is required. According to invention part of flow in pipe-line is transported under excessive pressure over channel connecting pipe-line with automatic sampler and samples are taken. First pressure difference in channel is found, under which velocity of flow in channel exceeds half-velocity of flow in pipe-line. Then velocity of flow in channel is adjusted proceeding from specified pressure difference. Device for taking sample of liquid from pipe-line has conduit connecting pipe-line with automatic sampler, automatic sampler and shut-off cocks. Device is provided with cock installed in conduit, drain cock and cock mounted in pipe-line for preliminary establishment of pressure difference in conduit at which velocity of flow in conduit corresponds to velocity of flow in pipe-line. Thereafter velocity of flow in conduit is adjusted till it corresponds to velocity of flow in pipe-line with possibility of taking sample from flow in pipe-line.
