FIELD: analytical methods in uranium industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical methods regarding uranium compounds capable of forming volatile fluorides. Method of invention comprises atomic fluorine fluorination of a small amount of impurities-containing uranium compound in a special reactor followed by analyzing fluorination products with the aid of gas mass-spectrometer. Atomic fluorine is formed in reactor as a result of decomposition of molecular fluorine stream on nickel electrode heated to 550-600оС. Determination of the weight portion of impurities in solid uranium compounds is performed taking into account fluorination factors quantitatively characterizing probability of formation of volatile fluorides of impurities. Device for implementing the method consists of a covered body. The body has two connecting pipes for supplying molecular fluorine and discharging fluorination products. Nickel wire electrode is extended inside the body and located in immediate proximity to nickel gauze on the bottom of body wherein sample of solid uranium compounds is placed.
EFFECT: simplified and accelerated analytic procedure.
