FIELD: metallurgy, alloys.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in preparing metal foams. Invention proposes alloy comprising the following components, wt.-%: magnesium, 5-6; zinc, 20-40; copper, 4-6; aluminum, the balance. Invention proposes also a method for preparing aluminum foam from this alloy that involves preparing the melt of aluminum alloy by the preparing aluminum melt, addition of magnesium to it in the amount 45-55% of the required content in ready alloy, intensive stirring of prepared melt for 8-10 min at temperature above liquidus temperature of the prepared alloy and addition of other components and magnesium. Then method involves continuous casting the aluminum alloy melt with simultaneous addition to it a blowing agent, deformation of ingot and its thermal treatment. The proposed alloy for preparing aluminum foam and a method for preparing aluminum foam from it provides preparing the highly qualitative solid ingot owing to prevention of melt foaming before ingot solidifying that allow carrying out the effective deformation of ingot under pressure.
EFFECT: improved preparing method.
