FIELD: quantum electronics; cross-discharge lasers including closed-cycle ones.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for generating spatial discharge in pulsed-periodic closed-cycle gas laser includes supply of high-voltage pulse to blade electrodes and pumping of working gas mixture through spatial discharge area in direction perpendicular to electrical discharge current and to resonator axis. It also includes suppression of acoustic waves in gas mixture propagating up and down in gas mixture flow and in parallel with axis of laser optical resonator. In the process acoustic waves propagating toward discharge current are suppressed to complete decay in blade-to-blade space. Device implementing this method has pulse voltage generator, working chamber whose side walls are tilted to one another and to optical resonator axis, blade electrodes, working gas mixture pumping system, and screens installed in gas flow upstream and downstream of working chamber. Electrode blades of rectangular, triangular, or trapezoidal section are tilted in discharge current direction.
EFFECT: enhanced repetition rate of laser pulses and its mean output power; improved directivity pattern of laser beam.
