FIELD: fiber optics.

SUBSTANCE: fiber is formed by precipitating SiO2 from gas phase onto outer surface of glass rod containing core and first portion of cover, second portion of cover, caking and stretching for receiving fiber. According to first variant, relation of diameter of first portion of cover to core diameter is within range from 4.0 to 4.8, and concentration of OH in the core, first and second portions of cover is no more than 0.1 of millionth portion. According to second variant, relation of diameter of first portion of cover to core diameter is no more than 4.8, and concentration of OH in core and first portion of cover is no more than 0.1 millionth portion, and in second portion of cover is no more than 100 millionth portions.

EFFECT: lower losses in 1380 nm range and higher resistance to hydrogen effect.
