FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, production of liquid metal iron.
SUBSTANCE: method involves charging compacted basic material including carbonaceous reducer and substance including iron oxide into reduction furnace equipped with movable hearth; reducing compacted basic material to reduction coefficient of from 30% to 80% for producing of partly reduced material with metal iron coat or with netted enclosure of metal iron comprising slag arranged inside or in net cell spaces and caked with non-reduced iron oxide and carbonaceous reducer not involved into reaction; providing final reduction and melting for producing of liquid metal iron.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of process.
