FIELD: processes for receiving metallic iron by thermal reduction of iron oxides.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating aggregated charge materials including carbonaceous reducing agent and iron oxide- containing material in reducing melting furnace with movable hearth, reducing and melting iron oxides in charge materials. Reducing melting furnace includes at least three zones in direction of hearth motion. At least one zone, first in hearth motion direction is zone for solid phase reduction. At least one zone last in hearth motion direction is carburizing and melting zone. Between said two zones there is zone for reduction soaking at temperature controlled in range 1200 -1500°C. Invention provides minimized secondary oxidation of metallic iron, minimized FeO concentration in melt slag in final phase of solid phase reduction, lowered erosion (caused by melt FeO) of refractory material of hearth.
EFFECT: effective obtaining of metallic iron with high purity degree of iron and with increased yield of product.
