FIELD: mechanical engineering; railway transport.
SUBSTANCE: proposed rail has end face sides, and member is secured acoustically tightly on end faces of rail to effectively absorb acoustic vibrations. Said member is manufactured of Pb or "dumb" alloy CnMn. Cavities of depth equal to 0.1-1.0 of wavelength of acoustic resonance vibrations can be made on rolling and/or sliding surfaces of rails, being filled up with material absorbing acoustic vibration, for instance, with Pb or CuMn.
EFFECT: improved wear resistance of rail owing to absorption or dissipation of surface vibrations.
